HEART Caravan goes to Balicasag Island

The HEART Caravan of the Provincial Government of Bohol went to Balicasag Island on Sept. 19, 2021, according to a report from the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER).

Balicasag Island is part of Panglao town and is known as a tourist attraction where residents depend on tourism for their livelihood.

However, the pandemic has affected the livelihood of the people there as a result of the tourism shutdown.

Gov. Arthur Yap personally visited the island to check on the residents’’ situation and find out their needs.

At the same time, he distributed food packs to the residents of the island.

The governor was accompanied by members of the Philippine Coast Guard. The Coast Guard personnel inspected the status of the radar installation being constructed in the said island.

Moreover, the governor was with San Miguel town mayor Virgilio Mendez, Valencia town mayor Katrina Lim, Camelita Tecson of the Office of the Social Welfare and Development, and barangay officials.
