Residents in some parts of Luzon were awaken by a magnitude 5.7 earthquake past 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, reports say.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported the tectonic quake jolted Looc, Occidental Mindoro as its epicenter at 1:12 a.m.

The said earthquake was felt in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, and Nueva Ecija.

Some residents and workers in office buildings were evacuated to safety in anticipation of strong aftershocks.

A magnitude 4.5 aftershock was recorded at 1:40 a.m., but it did not cause any damage, reports indicate.

The municipal disaster risk reduction and management office of Looc, Occidental Mindoro said there was no reported casualty or damage related to the earthquake so far.

Meanwhile, a mild earthquake shook Catigbian and nearby towns of Bohol on Sept. 26, 2021, according to the PHIVOLCS.

The tremor was detected 1 km. west of Catigbian town and felt in nearby areas such as Balilihan town.

The PHIVOLCS said the earthquake occurred around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

There are no aftershocks and damage reported in relation from the said quake.
