The head of the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organizing committee, Shamcey Supsup-Lee expressed her gratitude and thanks to Gov. Arthur Yap and the province of Bohol for allowing the pageant to be staged in the province.
She expressed her appreciation to the gesture of the governor and the people of Bohol by way of a post on social media on Sept. 28, 2021.
Supsup-Lee stated that she and the rest of the MUP organization are “forever grateful” to the willingness of the province to host the pageant.
“Extremely grateful to the Provincial Government of Bohol and to Governor Arthur Yap for welcoming us to this beautiful Island,” she posted on her verified Facebook page.
She added: “Still can’t believe we are crowning the next Miss Universe Philippines 2021 in a few days!”
For his part the governor said that the provincial government allowed the pageant to be staged here as long as strict rules are observed.
“Ang Miss Universe [Philippines] atong gitugotan under strict rules kay gusto nato nga magpabilin ang Bohol sa hunahuna. Bisan nga hinay ang negosyo, ang turismo, kinahanglang top of mind gihapon ang Bohol,” the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) quoted the governor.
The staging of the MUP coronation night in Bohol provides a glimpse of what Bohol is able to do in terms of hosting events in the midst of a pandemic, according to a PRIMER report.
The governor believes the MUP is a solid platform ro announce the capability of Bohol to provide a safe environment to tourists and visitors.
As this developed, the governor indicated that following the news that the MUP is staging its coronation night in Bohol, he received several feelers and messages indicating people’s interest to visit Bohol as tourists soon.
Henann Resort Convention Center will be the venue of the pageant, which is slated tomorrow, Sept. 30, 2021, according to the MUP organization.
About 28 ladies from all over the country will vie for the title of Miss Universe Philippines and will become the country’s bet in the Miss Universe pageant in Dec. 2021 in Israel.
