Gov. Arthur Yap led the inauguration of the new building of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) located inside the premises of Camp Esteban Bernido in barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City, a report from the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) office says.
The inauguration was held on Sept. 30, 2021, the report adds. The new building is a state-of-the-art unified command center (UCC).
The UCC is designed to monitor the peace and order situation and the state of the province during calamities such as earthquakes or typhoons.
It can be recalled that Yap pushed for better emergency response especially in the towns of Bohol.
For this reason, Bohol has aspired for a state-of-the-art facility that will be used in disaster management and disaster risk reduction.
The operations arm of the PDRRMO is the Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (TaRSIER 117) is mandated to respond to any emergency situation, security crisis, and other challenges especially during this time of the pandemic.
The UCC plays a huge role in the responding to emergency situations especially in the towns.
The governor was accompanied in the inauguration by Board Members Ricky Masamayor, Aldner Damalerio, Abeleon Damalerio, the chief of staff of Cong. Edgar Chatto, PDRRMO chief Anthony Damalerio, Holy Name University (HNU) president Fr. Ruel Lero, Provincial Health Officer officer-in-charge Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez and provincial Department of Health officer Neil John Oclarit.
