Mild magnitude 4.6 earthquake shakes Catigbian

A mild earthquake shook Catigbian and nearby towns of Bohol on Sept. 26, 2021, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tremor was detected at 1 km. west of Catigbian town and felt in nearby areas such as Balilihan town.

The Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

There are no aftershocks and damage expected from the said quake.

The quake has a depth of 1 kilometer and was of tectonic in origin, the Phivolcs reported.

It means  that the tremor was caused by the movement of a nearby active fault.
