The Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) discussed the proposal of Philippine Airlines (PAL) to allow international flights to land at the Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA), according to a report from the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER), released on Oct. 4, 2021.
The virtual meeting, which was held on Oct. 1, 2021, was attended by Gov. Arthur Yap, Bohol mayors, members of the Bohol Medical Society, and the various municipal health officers.
The proposal also includes the establishment of the service from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) processing the papers of incoming overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who are looking to come home in Bohol.
As this developed, Yap said the BIATF needs to further study the proposal as there are plenty of considerations that are needed to be looked at.
He said that in order for the proposal to be considered, it is best to have the temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMF) to help bring down the infection rate in Bohol.
Moreover, the governor urged the police to ensure that health and safety protocol are being followed.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, the governor chided the disobedience of some people who continue to conduct mass gatherings, which can be an opportunity for the virus to spread.
