A mega structure will soon rise in Talibon, eyed to become the site of sporting events, concerts and conventions, among others.
Gov. Arthur Yap on Oct. 12, 2021, announced the start of the 1st phase of construction of the Bohol Arena in barangay San Roque, Talibon.
The project is one of the biggest undertakings in the 2nd district of Bohol, according to the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) office.
The governor made the announcement during a meeting of town and barangay officials of Talibon led by Mayor Janette Garcia on Tuesday.
The initial phase of the project has a budget pegged at P200 million, the report adds.
Once built, the arena will serve as the sports, cultural, entertainment and convention hub of the province’s 2nd district.
The arena will enable Bohol to host sporting events such as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games once the pandemic is over, and sporting events featuring spectators will be allowed.
The arena can also hold concerts, entertainment shows, meetings, conventions, incentives and exhibitions (MICE), the report bares
In times of disasters, the arena can be converted into an evacuation center, the report says.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government is also crafting another project for northern Bohol, which is the Northern Bohol Bulk Water Project.
The project entails the construction of a dam located at barangay Sikatuna, Talibon.
The dam project has a budget worth P480 million and will benefit 14 barangays of Talibon, and the towns of Bien Unido and Trinidad.
The governor has placed special emphasis on having stable water supply especially during this pandemic, the PRIMER report concludes.
