First District Rep. Edgar Chatto led the distribution of wages to a new batch of beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in Maribojoc, according to a report.

Chatto, who facilitated the cash-for-work program with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and in coordination with different local government units (LGU) within the first district of Bohol, led a wage distribution event last week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, Chatto led the payout in Maribojoc together with Mayor Romy Manuta and Liga ng mga Barangay-Maribojoc president Wendeline Rojas.

Manuta thanked Chatto for facilitating the TUPAD program, citing lack of employment for a number of workers in Maribojoc especially those who used to work in the tourism industry.

Under the program, beneficiaries engage in 10-day work in the community and receive P4,040 as remuneration.

While in Maribojoc, Chatto along with Manuta and Rojas also inspected ongoing projects. They met with workers at the ongoing restoration of Holy Cross Parish Church which is nearing its completion.

The church is one of completely destroyed churches after the earthquake on Oct. 15, 2013. Having been declared a National Historical Treasure, the rehabilitation of the church was among rehabilitation projects undertaken by the National Museum. It was a part of the Bohol Earthquake Rehabilitation Plan put together by the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) with then Chatto as governor in coordination with LGUs and with a multitude of sectors, including the Dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon.

They also visited ongoing work at the Maribojoc Port.

Events related to the distribution of wages to TUPAD beneficiaries were also conducted in the towns of Sikatuna, Corella, and Antequera on the same day.

In Sikatuna Mayor Justiniana Ellorimo and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager Nelia Maquiling, DOLE’s Janssen Ocaña, and Kenny June Requeron, program coordinator of Chatto’s office led the ceremonial distribution of wages.

Moreover, Corella Mayor Hilario Tocmo and PESO manager Mai Ribai were present in the town’s ceremonial payout to beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Mayor Lilioso Nunag and Vice Mayor Jose Marie Pahang with PESO manager Russel Villas were present in the payout event in Antequera.

Also present during the payout events in the various towns were Board Member Aldner Damalerio and Board Member Ricky Masamayor who came on behalf of the Sangguniang Panlaalwigan headed by Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos, along with former Board Member Atty. Benjie Arcamo, who represented Gov. Arthur Yap.

Ceremonial distributions of wages were held in Catigbian, Balilihan, Cortes, and Tagbilaran City on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 and in Loon, Calape, and Tubigon last Friday, Oct, 20, 2021.

Beneficiaries in Dauis, Panglao, Baclayon, and Albur are set to receive their wages tomorrow, Oct. 25, 2021.

TUPAD provides temporary employment to displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers through community work.
