Top pulmonologist reiterates need to protect oneself vs. Covid as Bohol’s borders open

Dr. Bryan Cepedoza

One of the Philippines top pulmonologists has reiterated the need to protect oneself from Coronavirus disease (Covid) as Bohol’s borders open for fully vaccinated travelers.

In a radio interview on Oct. 26, 2021 over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado, Dr. Bryan Cepedoza said that people who will be riding transportations bound to Bohol should wear N95 masks.

He said the masks should be worn once, however there are some N95 masks which can be used up to 3 days for 8 hours each day.

People should still observe health protocol such as social distancing and hand hygiene.

He said that being fully vaccinated does not mean a person will no longer contract the virus or transmit the virus to other people.

This is the reason people should remain vigilant and protect themselves from Covid.

Meanwhile, Cepedoza said that there are two possible reasons the number of active Covid cases is declining. He said that it possible there are some asymptomatic persons who have developed passive Immunity or more Boholanos are inoculated.

Cepedoza, however, warned Boholanos that having passive immunity is not a guarantee that there will no longer be a surge in the future. The best way to ensure that cases will be under control is for people to get vaccinated and finally achieve herd immunity.
