Truly grateful. This is the sentiment of the City Government led by City Mayor John Geesnell Yap and First Lady Jane Yap to the visit of German ambassador to the Philippines Anke Reiffenstuel, the City Media Bureau in its report says.
The government of the Federal Republic of Germany, through Reiffenstuel donated 15 brand new sewing machines and 4 air-conditioning units to the garments manufacturing business under the Tagbilaran Livelihood and Community Development Unit (TLCDU).
Mayor Yap also extended his gratitude to the First Consolidated Bank Foundation Chairman Argeo Melisimo for donating 5 sewing machines to TLCDU.
Mayor Yap expressed gratitude to the assistance and coordination of Maica Teves of Spark Philippines and Bohol’s chocolate princess Dalareich Polot.
“These brand-new sewing machines are valued reinforcement to our ever-growing livelihood unit. Our newly-trained beneficiaries can maximize the new sewing machines to enhance their skills and help the trainees to eventually strengthen the TLCDU brand. If our brand would be leveled up, TLCDU could even tap new markets outside the province,” Mayor Yap said.
Reiffenstuel also made a side visit to the BABA village where she was welcomed by the Urban Poor Coordinator Jose Curso Pamaong.
During the meeting, Pamaong showed the envoy the projects of the City Government in the field of socialized housing.
Reiffenstuel said the embassy could enter into a possible partnership with the City Government to assist in the housing program for the urban poor.
