Tagb starts vaccination among 12 to 17-year-old kids

The City Government thru the City Health Office (CHO) extended its vaccination efforts to minors aged 12 to 17 years. The first vaccination activity was done on Nov. 5, 2021. The 2nd vaccination activity will be held on Nov. 9, 2021. The vaccination for the minors under the 12 to 17 years old age group is held at the Tagbilaran City College and City Central School.

As this developed, the city already achieved its much-needed herd immunity. This is important considering that Tagbilaran is the commercial center of the Province of Bohol.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II said that vaccination is one major deterrent in the spread of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) infection.

“Since we have achieved the herd immunity status, the number of being infected has gone down. Thus, we have always intensified our vaccination efforts. In fact, we have devised creative ways to saturate the Tagbilaranons like the mobile vaccination bus, the vaccination drive-thru, and the barangay-based vaccination. But we should also put in mind that despite the decrease in COVID-19 cases, we should always observe the health protocols like physical distancing, wearing of face masks, and washing of hands. We should never let our guard down,” Mayor Yap said.

CHO’s Information Officer Robin Reyes Culpa reported that the number of Covid cases in Tagbilaran is on the decline. On Oct. 11, 2021, the number of cases was pegged at 126.

However, Culpa said that the number of Covid cases in the city is at 55 as of Nov. 5, 2021.

Culpa also said that Tagbilaran City has already vaccinated more than 80% of its population. Out of the 48 local government units (LGU) in Bohol, Tagbilaran City tops the list of the number of residents vaccinated, followed by Loboc with 42.55%, Sevilla with 38.09%, Panglao with 36.57%, Dimiao with 34.11%, Maribojoc with 32.92%, Sikatuna with 32.67%, Lila with 32.58%, and Loay with 31.68%.
