The towns that received the RxBox are Antequera, Balilihan, Catigbian, Dauis, Maribojoc, Buenavista, Bien Unido, Getafe, Inabanga, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, Sagbayan, San Isidro, Talibon, Trinidad, San Miguel, Ubay, Sevilla, Batuan, Bilar, Carmen, Dimiao, Guindulman, Garcia-Hernandez, Lila, and Valencia.

A medical staff member and an IT employee from the each town were trained to operate and maintain the RxBox, the report says.

The project is implemented by the DOST in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Manila – National Telehealth Center

The project is an innovation designed to support Department of Health’s (DOH)  Universal Health Care program.

The RxBox is a program aimed to provide better access to health care services in isolated areas in the country.

RxBox includes a device that is capable of capturing health signals from a patient’s body with the use of sensors.

The data are then stored and sent via the Internet to a medical specialist.

The said program seeks to improve the local referral system by facilitating teleconsultation  between the patient and the medical specialist.
