Guv presides over PTESD meeting

Gov. Arthur Yap presided over the meeting of the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development (PTESD) committee meeting on Nov. 8, 2021, according to a report of the Provincial Information and Media Relations‘(PRIMER) office report.

The same report said the governor discussed with the participants the priority skills that Boholanos will benefit from learning during this pandemic.

According to the PRIMER report, the main topic in the meeting was about developing skills in the areas of agri-fisheries, construction and tourism.

Moreover, the governor said during the meeting that Bohol should expect and be ready for the possible surge of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases following the Christmas season.

Skills training is important in order to strengthen the economy already severely impacted by the pandemic, the governor adds.

Yap suggested to include other national government agencies in the PTESD  committee including the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment and Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The governor said that the inclusion of more national government agencies will hasten the ability of the said committee in finding ways to help Boholanos look for employment.

Other personalities who attended the meeting included Victor Lauron from the education and training sector, Allen Varquez of the tourism sector, Engr. Albert Uy of the business sector, Clint Ingles of the labor sector, Maria Soledad Balistoy of the government sector, Engr. Winefredo Salas of the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Vilma Yorong of the Bohol Employment Placement Office (BEPO), the report bares.
