Change for the Better!

I am glad to see this generation of Filipinos who are hungry and eager for change. People air and express their sentiments, opinions and frustrations in different modes of communication. I am just concerned that some relationships are ruined or severed because of conflicting views and opinions. Let us not forget that the Election frenzy is over. Conversations should remain constructive and meaningful.

As we exercised our right to vote, we should remind ourselves that the real change starts in us. As citizens, we should start thinking about our role in making this country great again. If you are a parent, it is your responsibility to discipline your children. Other people may help but do not rely entirely on them.

Our elders taught us moral values. We should always respect others especially the rights of women and children. We should not tolerate abuse and bullying. Couples should not ruin their marriage. Why did you even marry in the first place if you will eventually ruin it? Protect the welfare your children, they are the future of our nation.

Do not be fooled by false promises, “di ta magdali kay mangapandol ra ta”. See to it that our leader’s ideologies are beneficial to the majority, not only to some chosen group.

We should always uphold the law and defend the constitution. Know your rights and privileges as a citizen and participate in the good governance of you respective Local Government Units. Do not just rant on social media, call the concerned official’s attention and take personal action.

The most important thing to consider as we observe our politicians sitting in power is to join the check and balance movement. It is not bad to be a considered a concerned citizen when in fact it is greatly encouraged nowadays given the attention social media frenzies. Ultimately, think more than twice before doing anything drastic becasue the future of our nation depends on you.

We, the people of the Philippines, have shown huge resilience during decades of bloodshed. Our hopes for peace remain — let us not waste this opportunity for a real change.

Move forward, we are in the right path!
