The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) led by Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos approved the proposed 2022 Annual Investment Program (AIP) on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 during the regular session of the August Body.
Relampagos led the discussion regarding the AIP after it was presented by Atty. John Titus Vistal, who is the head of the Provincial Planning and Development Office and Peter Ross Retutal, the Provincial Budget Officer during the pre-session meeting prior to last Tuesday’s session.
The 2022 AIP is pegged at P29,597,235,760.00, which includes P660,564,721.00 for projects that will be funded by the 20% Development Fund and P23,711,394,000.00 for projects proposed for external funding.
The AIP for 2022 is aimed at boosting Bohol’s resilience against emerging and re-emerging diseases.
As such, more than P500 million is allocated for the Provincial Health Office (PHO). The funds will be used by the PHO in the modernization of provincial hospitals and improvements in some of the province’s medical facilities.
Moreover, the AIP is positioned to revitalize the local economy, which has been affected by the pandemic.
To stimulate socio-economic activities and recover from the effects of Coronavirus disease (Covid), boosting investments for agriculture and promoting livelihood and employment are among the priorities. A significant portion of the AIP goes to the Economic Services sector—with more than P300 million earmarked for projects under the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, another P300 million for the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, and nearly P175 million for the Bohol Employment and Placement Office.
Other priorities in the AIP include sustaining efforts for the revival of the tourism industry and expanding social services and direct assistance.
