Mayor Baba Yap throws his support to Sen. Bong Go’s presidential bid, Mayor Sara Duterte’s VP aspirations

Tagbilaran City mayor John Geesnell Yap II throws his support to the presidential candidacy of Sen. Bong Go and the vice presidential bid of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

The mayor revealed this in a radio interview on Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa on Nov. 19, 2021, hosted by Ardy and Chandymar Araneta-Batoy.

Mayor Yap clarified that the decision to support the tandem of Go and Duterte-Carpio is limited to the mayor’s group at the city level.

Yap admitted that he has yet to get in touch with provincial leaders of the Pundok Padayon Bol-anon coalition regarding which tandem for president and vice president to support.

He reiterated that even in the event the provincial level group has another tandem in mind, he will stick to his decision to support Go and Duterte-Carpio.

Meanwhile, Councilor Augustinus Gonzaga said his group has yet to make a decision on which tandem to support at the presidential and vice presidential level.

In a separate interview also over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa, Gonzaga admitted that his group’s focus is on the local political scene.

Gonzaga is running for vice mayor of Tagbilaran, and his bet for city mayor is the current city vice mayor Jose Antonio Veloso.
