Bohol has reached a vaccination rate of 31% based on the data of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF), the report of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) says on Nov. 22, 2021.
In its Nov. 18, 2021 report, BIATF said that vaccination teams have already inoculated about 299,629 persons which is about 31% of the target population of 961,872 individuals included in the province’s master list.
The report says that 961, 872 individuals represent 70% of the province’s population.
It is said that once 70% of the population has been inoculated, the province is said to have achieved herd immunity.
Herd immunity is a form of indirect protection against infectious disease. It can occur when the transmission of disease has become unlikely or disruptions of transmission of disease occur within a certain locality.
However, the number of people inoculated in Bohol is only 21.48% compared to the actual population of Bohol.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in its 2020 census said Bohol has a total population of 1,394,329.
Health experts and epidemiologists have theorized that once a community can attain its herd immunity Covid would no longer a significant health concern in the community, the PIA says in its report.
Meanwhile, BIATF also said that vaccination teams in Bohol have inoculated 347,076 individuals for their first doses of the Covid vaccine.
