The seven-year project of the Philippine Center for Civic Education and Democracy (PCCED) in Loon was recently completed, a press release says.
To mark this milestone, a culmination program was held on November 24, 2021 at the Local Government Unit (LGU) Activity Center of the Loon Municipal Hall Complex.
Mayor Elvi Peter L. Relampagos welcomed the officials of PCCED and the chairpersons and representatives of the beneficiary barangays.
PCCED is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to the effective promotion of good citizenship and participatory democracy through education.
Its post-earthquake project in Loon received financial assistance from the Provincial Government of Bizkaia in Spain through Zabalketa, a non-government organization.
The main outputs of the project, which is part of the Ayuda Humanitarian para Bohol en Filipinas, are the Five-Year Comprehensive Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Plan, the Barangay Contingency Plan, and the Evacuation Camp Management Plan.
These plans were developed by the 23 beneficiary barangays in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
Leora Myrla Robles-Quilas, a Loonanon staff of PCCED, presented the project accomplishment report.
Thereafter, the memorandum of agreement regarding the turnover of disaster risk reduction and medical equipment was read.
Some of the equipment turned over to the beneficiary barangays through Mayor Relampagos were non-contact infrared thermometers, steel ladders, knapsack sprayers, emergency lamps, and buckets.
Furthermore, the copies of the said plans were also distributed.
The PCCED team that graced the culmination program was headed by Program Director Aepril Maita C. Palo, Atty. Jaime C. Bernar, executive director of Zabalketa, and Ramon N. Cabrera, PCCED chairman.(Reigh P. Monreal)
