Gov. Arthur C. Yap

Gov. Arthur Yap emphasized the need to link the arts and culture to programs on poverty alleviation.

The governor gave his statement during the national conference dubbed as Adhika sa Kasaysayan at Kalinangang Pilipino, which started on Nov. 29 and will end on Dec. 1, 2021 and is being staged virtually.

The said national conference is now on its 32nd year.

The governor said that arts and culture will become more relevant or meaningful if these can be linked with anti-poverty programs. He said culture and arts can be used to add value to tourism programs, which in turn draw more tourists and propel the nation’s economy forward.

He added that the 7 arts should not be used solely for artistic expression but to also help the future generation remember their heritage.

Yap added that the arts and culture should be given enough attention despite the challenges posed by poverty and the health crisis.

Meanwhile, Yap visited barangay Sta. Cruz, Batuan and distributed rice packs to residents.

He also turned over P2 million to be used for the covered court of the said barangay.
