Police arrest Bien Unido VM, brgy. captain, brgy. kagawad, 19 others for alleged illegal cockfight

Police reportedly arrested the vice mayor of Bien Unido town, a barangay captain, barangay kagawad and 19 other persons on Dec. 5, 2021, for alleged illegal cockfighting, according to a police report released on Dec. 8, 2021.

Police said they arrested Bien Unido vice mayor Ramon Arcenal, 56, a resident of Nueva Estrella, Bien Unido.

The report added that the police also arrested Nueva Estrella captain Patrocenio Boniel,54 and Jovy Boniel, 38, a barangay kagawad of Mandawa, Bien Unido.

They were arrested together with 19 others following a raid on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, in barangay Mandawa.

The police said that there are five other suspects who remain at large.

Reports say that a composite team from Bien Unido police station and the Bohol Police Provincial Office conducted a raid in an alleged illegal cockfight after receiving an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen.

The police were able to recover 2 roosters during the raid and alleged bet money amounting to P2,800.

The suspects will be facing charges of violation Presidential Decree 1602 of the Illegal Cockfighting Law.
