The Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic impacted every aspect of our lives. One of the impacts is the inevitability of people to shift to contactless, digital transactions in order to prevent the spread of the virus while fulfilling their daily chores especially paying their bills.
The City Government of Tagbilaran had to do something in order to make payment contactless in the face of the pandemic.

The Office of the City Treasurer looked for ways to reach out to its clients amidst the pandemic, and one of these ways was the adoption of online payments services in collaboration with mobile e-wallet solution GCash.
Tagbilaran City has been successful in the integration of various financial transactions with the use of online platforms like GCash.

In recognition of the various institutions and organizations‘ extraordinary work to lift the lives of every Filipino, GCash honored its partners in the first-ever Digital Excellence Awards 2021.

The awards are gestures of a fitting recognition given to local government units and government agencies that paved the way for the uplifting of people’s lives especially of their constituents and clients by using digital financial products to help ensure safe financial transactions.
Now, with more than 51 million active subscribers using GCash, Filipinos can safely and conveniently pay their bills, send money, shop, save, and invest on the mobile e-wallet.
GCash has become the leading financial platform but it acknowledges that this would not have been possible without partnership with various stakeholders, especially the public sector.
The Excellence in Digital Public Service Award is a citation for public institutions that contributed to the growth of the cashless ecosystem in the Philippines by providing their stakeholders access to digital payment solutions. The awards recognize institutions or sectors that partnered with GCash in creating effective ecosystem to improve the lives of their constituents.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II in his message thanked the technical assistance of GCASH to the City Government.

“On behalf of the City Government of Tagbilaran, I am truly honored to receive the GCash Excellence in Digital Ecosystem Innovation, we are grateful to GCash for recognizing the efforts of Tagbilaran City in accelerating the city’s migration to electronic payments. Today our clients can pay their taxes, fees, and bills at the comfort of their homes or offices 24/7 in just one tap. Thank you GCash and AsensoPaMore!”
