Top pulmonologist still recommends to wear face masks despite declining active Covid cases

Dr. Bryan Cepedoza

Despite the declining number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in Bohol, top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza  still recommends for people to continue wearing face masks especially in indoor spaces.

This is what he recommended during an interview over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa on Dec. 14, 2021, hosted by Dave Albarado.

Cepedoza said if people can afford an N95 mask, it would be better to wear one as it provides better protection.

He added that people should wear at the minimum a surgical face mask to prevent transmission of the virus if a person is infected.

Cepedoza explained that the surgical mask cannot stop the virus already in the air from entering the body. This is the reason why he recommends an N95 face mask.

The doctor pointed out that removing the protocol on wearing mask could lead to another surge of cases, like what happened in South Korea.

Another surge, he said, might lead to lockdowns which could only hurt the economy of the country.

As of press time, the total active Covid cases in Bohol is at 12.
