Top pulmonologist still recommends the wearing of face masks despite declining number of active Covid cases
Despite the declining number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in Bohol, top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza still recommends to people the continuation of the wearing face masks especially in indoor spaces.
This is what he recommended during an interview over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa on Dec. 14, 2021, hosted on that day by Dave Albarado.
Cepedoza said if people can afford an N95 mask, it would be better to wear one as it provides better protection.
He added that people should wear, at the minimum, a surgical face mask to prevent transmission of the virus if a person is infected.
Cepedoza explained that the surgical mask cannot stop the virus already in the air from entering the body. This is the reason he recommends an N95 face mask.
The doctor pointed out that removing the protocol on the wearing of masks could lead to another surge of cases, like what happened in South Korea.
Another surge, he said, might lead to lockdowns which could only hurt the economy of the country.
As of press time, the total active Covid cases in Bohol is at 12.
