Christmas spirit is alive at the City Hall despite challenges

Despite the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and the wrath of typhoon Odette, the City Hall is decorated with Christmas decors.
The City Human Resources Management Office launched a Christmas decoration contest among all the offices at City Hall where each office was assigned with a certain Christmas color. Each office would be judged based on craftsmanship, arrangement, uniqueness, theme color, and overall appeal.
The offices on first floor are splashed with vibrant red color; the rooms at the second floor are adorned with golden yellow; and the third floor offices are decorated in white.
The remaining offices located outside the City Hall building were also beautifully adorned with Christmas decors, which include the Office of the Senior Citizens, City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, the City Engineering, the City Social and Welfare Development, Tagbilaran City Waterworks, and the General Services Office.
City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha said that the winners of the Christmas decor contest will be revealed before the new year.
Tagb ranks 8th place in the Infra Pillar in the 9th RCS

Tagbilaran City is ranked 8th place in the Infrastructure Pillar in the Component Cities category of the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit (RCS) spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under its the Cities Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) on Dec. 14, 2021, reports say.
This means that Tagbilaran City is the 8th best component city in the Philippines in terms of infrastructure.
Moreover, Tagbilaran City is ranked 1st in the Visayas region in terms of Economic Dynamism.
Following the summit, Tagbilaran City is now the 16th best component city in the country based on the CMCI, which is an improvement from last year’s placing. In 2020, Tagbilaran City was the 18th most competitive component city.
Furthermore, Tagbilaran City retains its bragging rights by being named as the most competitive city in the Visayas region based on the CMCI.
For his part, City Mayor John Geesnell Yap thanked all the department heads for their hard work and dedication that led to the latest achievement of the City Government.
“This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the City Government. The sound fiscal management of the city has also been a game-changer for Tagbilaran City. The local executive thanked the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) for the award and said that this recognition is a testament of the focus and commitment of the City Government to deliver relevant public service”, Yap said.
The United States Agency for International Development-Sustaining Urban Resilience for Growth and Equity (USAID-SURGE) through its coordinator, Dr. Rosalinda Paredes, helped in organizing the data capture and monitoring team of Tagbilaran City. The team was tasked to collect information for the indicators under the four pillars and were sent to the DTI.
