VG Rene leads SP in declaring state of calamity in Bohol post-Odette; says PGBh doing its best to help typhoon victims

Vice Governor Rene Relampagos has assured the Boholanos that the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is doing its best to provide all forms of assistance to typhoon victims.

In a statement, Relampagos said the PGBh under the leadership of Gov. Arthur Yap and all concerned agencies are making all the necessary and needed steps in order to provide the help to the victims of the typhoon.

As of writing, Yap is closely monitoring and coordinating with all the mayors to report their conditions in order for the PGBh to accurately assess and provide immediate assistance.

Likewise, Yap has made a pronouncement that his priority is the timely distribution of relief assistance of food and water especially to far-flung barangays and islands of Bohol.

Relampagos said the SP is likewise ready to enact legislations for the benefit of the general public.

Meanwhile, Relampagos urges the public not to panic and not to resort to hoarding of prime commodities, medicines and petroleum products. He reminded everybody to be calm and trust that there is enough supply for everybody.

According to Yap, Ramon Ang of Petron has made an assurance that there is enough gasoline to supply the province and that additional supply from oil suppliers are coming in to

in a related development, given the current situation of the province following the fury of typhoon Odette, the SP led by Relampagos, declared the state of calamity for the entire province in a special session on Dec. 20, 2021.

The resolution also supplements Executive Order 65 earlier issued by Gov. Arthur Yap declaring the state of calamity in Bohol.

The typhoon brought strong winds and the rise in the water levels in major rivers in the province, such as the Inabanga and Loboc rivers.

Bohol’s northeastern towns became the epicenter of the destruction brought by the typhoon.

Furthermore, as of this writing, typhoon Odette left Bohol with at least 103 casualties, 14 missing individuals, and 639 injured Boholanos. 

Not less than 26,590 families were also evacuated, mostly from island barangays.

On Dec. 21, 2021, Relampagos personally visited the Municipalities of Loon, Clarin, Talibon, and Bien Unido to see the damage brought by Odette. 

He was accompanied by First District Board Members Ricky Masamayor, AldnerDamalerio, Lucille Lagunay, and Bohol Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federated President, Board Member Christian Victor Bolos III.

Relampagos assured the Boholanos that the provincial government is doing its utmost best to provide for the people in this dire situation.

“Naningkamot kita sa provincial government nga maka responde sa pangihanglanon sa mga katawhan. Nabuhat na ni nato sauna. Together, we can rise above this tragedy. Sa atuang pagtinabangay, ug sa kanunay nga pagpaningkamot namu ni  Gov. Art ug mga kaubanan sa SP, makabarog kitang tanan balik.”
