Odette pushes barges, ships on Bohol shallow waters

Tropical storm Odette which lashed Bohol towns to smithereens in the evening of Dec. 16, 2021 did not spare marine vessels which sought safe shelter on the waters of Bohol, a report by the Philippine Information Agency says.
While causing massive devastation in the towns of Ubay, President Carlos P. Garcia, Bien Unido, Trinidad, Talibon, Getafe, Inabanga, Clarin, Tubigon, Sagbayan, Danao, Dagohoy, Pilar, Alicia and Sierra Bullones, waves spawned by the 280 kilometer per hour winds brought by the storm pushed ships anchers, lifted some heavy vessels and brought on the shallow waters.
The storm’s 480 kilometer radius also wreaked havoc in the remaining towns of Bohol, especially in flood prone towns of Loboc and Inabanga. Among these vessels is the ferry that serves the Argao Cebu Catagbacan Loon regular route, according to Loon Municipal Information Officer Adam Saligumba.
With the condition of some vessels still questionable, the trips to and from Bohol ave become fewer.
Sarigumba said that trips coming from Cebu to Loon originate from Ouano wharf.
Before the typhoon, voyages from Cebu to Loon originated from Argao town, Sarigumba told the PIA.
