FB satire page spreads fake news vs. Guv

A satire page on Facebook went viral on Jan. 7, 2021 and has been spreading fake news against Gov. Arthur Yap, according to reports.

The satire page is called “Cebu DaiRy News” (CDN), and bears the same acronym/initials and layout used by the Cebu Daily News, a media entity in Cebu province.

The so-called Cebu DaiRy News reportedly posted an article mocking the efforts of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) under the leadership of Yap.

The satire FB page, was and is still being reposted and shared by netizens, according to reports received by The Bohol Tribune.

As this developed, Kevin Damalerio, an Executive Assistant of Gov. Yap, responded quickly by posting an update regarding the matter on his personal Facebook account.

Damalerio bared to The Bohol Tribune that he went to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Cybercrime Unit and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), to report the said satire Facebook page for spreading fake news against the governor and the PGBh.

Moreover, Damalerio also said that cases will be filed against the perpetrators and fake news purveyors following the posts of the said satire Facebook page.

Kaning uban bitaw, wala nalang gyuy mabuhat nga maayo. Bisan sa panahon sa kalamidad, mamulitika ug manaut gihapon.”

Damalerio bared that, allegedly, there is a politician who has been paying people to spread “rumors” against his political adversary.

Even though Damalerio did not mention any names, he instead dropped a clue by saying, “Apply mo ug submit sa inyong application letter ug resume adto sa ilang mansion sa Dauis”.

Damalerio further said, “Rehashed black propaganda strategy ning ilang gibuhat. I will unmask this corrupt politician in the coming days.”

Is Damalerio referring to Cong. Erico Aristotle Aumentado who has a big house in Dauis? The puzzle needs to be solved.
