Gov. Arthur Yap has denied accusations that floated in social media saying that labels indicating his name were placed on sardine cans being distributed as relief goods to typhoon victims.
The governor presented his reply to the accusations in a video message posted on Jan. 11, 2022, in his official Facebook page.
The governor said that the provincial government never distributed relief goods with labels indicating his name to the typhoon victims.
“Simple ra lang ang akong tubag, wala tay gipanghatag nga sardinas nga naay gibutang nga ngalan nga Art Yap. 100% akong ihatag ang assurance sa atong mga netizens,” the governor said.
The governor said that in 2019, one of his campaign supporters is Swan Manufacturing Corporation , donated sardines with labels indicating Yap’s name.
Moreover, Yap added that no canned good distributed to typhoon victims bears the name of the governor in 2022.
“Karon, I assure you [netizens] wala tay mga sardinas nga gipaimprentahan ug ngalan ni Art Yap ug gidistribute sa mga tawo,” the governor explained.
Some netizens, including Capitol’s staunch critic Emmanuel “Willy” Ramasola, posted images of sardine cans with the name “ARTHUR YAP” indicated on the can’s label.
