The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Bohol Provincial Office recently conducted Diskwento Caravans in some severely affected areas of typhoon Odette in the province of Bohol.
The first run of the program was conducted at the Ubay Oval Ground in Poblacion, Ubay, Bohol on Jan. 6, 2022.
It was followed by the second stop on Jan. 7, 2022 at the Talibon Port in Poblacion, Talibon, Bohol.
The last stop of the caravan was on Jan. 8, 2022 at the Inabanga gymnasium, Inabanga, Bohol.
The caravan offered basic and prime commodities as well as construction and hardware materials.
These caravans were spearheaded by the DTI Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Asteria C. Caberte and the DTI Bohol Provincial Director Maria Soledad L. Balistoy with the support coming from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the 3 municipalities visited and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The caravans were graced by the presence of partners: Leonardo Distributors, Inc., BQ Builderware, Puyat Steel Corporation, Wilcon Depot, and Hyundai Motors.
Buyers from the said towns flocked to the caravan sites as early as 8 am to purchase some products from the partner manufacturers and distributors.
Customers from the different barangays of the towns visited and nearby municipalities came and bought the basic supplies available including materials for house repair.
Other products that were sold during the caravans included canned goods, instant noodles, condiments, bath and detergent soaps, instant coffee, powdered milk, bottled drinking water, bread, rice, candles, galvanized iron sheets, plywoods, sakolin, and nails.
The Diskwento Caravan aims to provide consumers with access to quality and reasonably-priced products in accordance with or even lower than the current prevailing prices which is a big help especially in this time of calamity.
This is the first wave of Diskwento Caravans scheduled for this month, the DTI said in its press release.
DTI Bohol is set to conduct the next staging of the caravan in other municipalities in the coming weeks.
