Loay mayor denies rumors of crocodiles roaming around the town

Mayor Hilario Ayuban

Loay mayor Hilario Ayuban has denied rumors that crocodiles have been roaming around the town and made this the denial in a Facebook post on Jan. 10, 2022.

Ayuban said he has heard about the rumor regarding crocodiles roaming around the town and the said rumors add that some of these crocodiles are seen swimming in the town’s river.
Ayuban immediately asked the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to investigate and verify the rumor.

The mayor said that a tourist attraction area in the said town has had a crocodile. The said crocodile died following the typhoon and was already buried.
To ascertain that indeed the crocodile already died, Ayuban ordered the crocodile’s remains exhumed.
The mayor said that an officer of PCG reported that the crocodile’s remains were found buried in an area near the tourist attraction.
Ayuban then asked the PCG to extend its probe to nearby Sevilla town to check if someone is keeping a crocodile.
He then asked the public to report to authorities any crocodile sighting.

Moreover, he asked the public not to spread rumors that could cause massive panic or anxiety.
