Tagb ranks 8th in infra among all component cities in PH

The official poster card shown during the virtual presentation of the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit that took place on Dec. 14, 2021. The card indicates that the City Government of Tagbilaran is ranked 8th in the Infrastructure Pillar among all the component cities in the Philippines.

The City Government of Tagbilaran City was ranked 8th in terms of Infrastructure under the Component Cities category in the entire country as announced in the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit (RCS).


The RCS is spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Cities Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). The RCS was held on Dec. 14, 2021 in Manila.


Tagbilaran City is also tagged as the Most Competitive City in the Visayas.
It is also the18th most competitive among all the component cities in the entire Philippines.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II thanked all the department heads for their hard work and dedication.

“This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the City Government. The sound fiscal management of the city has also been a game-changer for Tagbilaran City.”

The local executive thanked the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) for the award and said that this recognition is a testament of the focus and commitment of the City Government  to deliver relevant public service.


The United States Agency for International Development-Sustaining Urban Resilience, Equity and Growth (USAID-SURGE) through its coordinator, Dr. Rosalinda Paredes helped in organizing the Data Capture and Monitoring Team of Tagbilaran City.


This composite team is responsible in research, monitoring, and data-gathering. The team was tasked to collect information for the indicators under the four pillars of the CMCI.

Jeanette Busano of the City Planning and Development Office served as the overall coordinator of the data-gathering and monitoring, in close coordination with Jude Guieb of the Department of Trade and Industry.  The Economic Dynamism data was provided by Mary Christine Bitoy and Hubert Inas from the City Treasurer’s Office, Marysol Perocho from the City Budget, and Shayne Beniga from the Human Resources Department.


Moreover, the Government Efficiency Pillar data was furnished by Gilda Maniwang from the City Economic Enterprise, as assisted by Fe Almine from the City Assessor, Mario Lloyd Gutierrez from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and Junicel Mancha from the Department of Education, Tagbilaran City Division.

The information about infrastructure was handled by City Engineer Teodoro Estoque, as assisted by Asuncion Epe and Engr. Gina Inting, and Hazel Dos Pueblos from the City Tourism.

Lastly, the Resiliency Pillar data was provided by the group led by Airah Balatayo from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
