Comelec’s 2nd division finds no ground to cancel BBM’s COC

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The Commission on Election’s 2nd division found no ground to cancel the certificate of candidacy (COC) of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The said Comelec division handed out the decision to a case, which is one among the several disqualification cases filed against Marcos.

The Comelec is expected to release a decision on other cases against Marcos soon.

Theodore Te, who serves as the legal counsel for the group of civic leaders led by Fr. Christian Buenafe, was the one who shared the decision with the media.

Te said his camp will file a motion for reconsideration with the Comelec en banc.

The petitioners have argued that Marcos committed a crime of moral turpitude and perjury for allegedly making false representation in his COC.

Marcos was convicted by the Court of Appeals for failure to file tax returns and was fined.
