Vice Governor Rene Relampagos, with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol, pushed for the acceptance of the offer from One Meralco Foundation, Inc. (OMF) to lend the province 30 generator sets.
The generators, which have a capacity between 5 to 10 kilovolt ampere, will be used by the Provincial Government to temporarily provide power to essential services such as gas stations and water refilling stations.
Relampagos expressed full support to the venture, considering that power has not yet been fully restored in Bohol.
To seal the deal with the foundation, the provincial legislature, led by Relampagos, passed a resolution that grants Gov. Arthur Yap the authority to sign an agreement with OMF. The resolution was approved at the regular session last Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.
The OMF intends to help Bohol recover from the devastating effects of typhoon Odette.
Aside from the generator sets, Meralco has also sent a team of line men and technicians in the province to assist in repairing the electricity distribution lines.
