The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) led by Vice Gov. Rene Lopez Relampagos approved on Jan. 11, 2022, a resolution extending the deadline for people to avail themselves of the 20% discount on payment of of real property tax (RPT). The new deadline is now on March 31, 2022.
Provincial Treasurer Eustaquio Socorin revealed that those who want to avail themselves of the said discount should have paid their RPT by Jan. 20, 2022.
However, due to the challenges brought by the typhoon and the ongoing pandemic, several lot and property owners who are struggling to pay for the RPT on time they can avail themselves of the discount.
In the previous years, the SP also approved the extension of the deadline for those who wished to avail themselves of the discount in the payment of the RPT.
A Sanggunian, in this case the SP, may extend the deadline if there is justifiable reason to do so.
Those who need to pay their RPT may still avail themselves of the discount as long as they would pay the fee on or before the new deadline.
“We will continue to provide compassionate support and consideration for all our Boholano constituents who are still living in the aftermath of typhoon Odette in the province and the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Vice Gov. Rene Lopez Relampagos said.
