More than a month after the devastation caused by typhoon Odette, distribution utility (DU), the Bohol Electric Cooperative 1 (BOHECO 1) reported that it has restored around 25% of the fallen power lines in its service area.

According to a report by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), around  1,245 out of  4,991 lines have been restored as of Jan. 24, 2022.

However, the restoration of the power lines does not mean the connections going to consumers’ homes are now ready to receive electricity from power sources, report of the PIA says.

There are 26 Bohol towns within Boheco 1’s service area, the PIA reports.

Moreover, Boheco 1 has finished rehabilitating 539 backbone lines.

The backbone lines are the high tension power lines that bring the electricity from the grid to the distribution utility’s substation.

The next challenge for Boheco 1 is to complete the restoration of the power lines in order to distribute power to its consumers.

There are some consumers who are already getting power supplied by the Power Barge 104 and the Bohol Diesel Power Plant.

Around 6,674 consumers are already getting power which is 3.6% of the total consumers of the DU. There are 29,000 consumers

being served by Boheco 1.
