For 2 weeks, starting on Jan. 24, 2022, there are no classes in public schools in Bohol, according to an official of Department of Education (DepEd)-Bohol division.
Dr. Desiderio Deligero, the school’s governance and operations chief of DepEd-Bohol, said the regional DepEd office released a memorandum suspending classes in areas under Alert Level 3 from Jan. 24, 2022 until Jan. 31, 2022.
Bohol is under Alert Level 3 until the end of the month, according to the national Inter Agency Task Force (IATF).
Deligero further explained that the students here in Bohol get an extended vacation because according to the current school calendar, the midyear break is from Feb. 2 to 5, 2022. For this reason, classes are set to resume on Feb. 7, 2022.
Deligero bared the information in a radio interview over Open Forum program on Jan. 24, 2022 hosted by Atty. Greg Austral.
The order for the suspension of classes was not only because of the placement of Bohol under Alert Level 3, but also due the rising number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases and the effects of the onslaught of typhoon Odette, Deligero clarified during the interview.
The suspension of classes is a way to provide a time to rest for the learners especially those who have been severely affected by the impact of the typhoon, the DepEd official added.
As for the private schools, the management needs to consult the parents-teachers association if they will follow the class suspension order of the DepEd which is being implemented in public schools, Deligero bared.
