NFA springs into action to help in relief efforts

The National Food Authority (NFA) springs into action as it fulfills its mandate to provide rice stocks in times of calamities and emergencies.
NFA Bohol Branch addressed the rice requirements of government and private relief institutions for families affected by the typhoon, which recently hit the province.
Branch Manager Maria Fe Evasco said that NFA Bohol  activated its Operations Center (OpCen) immediately to ensure frontline services even during weekends and holidays to cater to various rice purchases intended for relief operations.
According to records, a total of 31,472 bags were distributed through various local government units, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Red Cross, national or local legislators, Office of the Vice President and government/private relief institutions.
As the province of Bohol still faces the challenges of Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and the recovery efforts from the aftermath of typhoon, Evasco said the NFA will continue to perform its function which is the procurement and bufferstocking for rice distribution and emergency response.

The City Social Welfare and Development staff members from the local government unit (LGU) of Valenzuela City pay a courtesy visit to National Food Authority (NFA)-Bohol branch manager Ma. Personnel from the Philippine Army assist in the loading of rice stocks from the weighing scale to truck to fast-track the withdrawal of 8,000 bags by the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh).

Trucks owned by local government unit (LGU) line up at the National Food Authority (NFA) warehouse in Tagbilaran City to withdraw their rice purchases intended as food packs in support for their respective relief efforts.

National Food Authority’s success in the delivery of service is also attributed to the unwavering support from contracted warehouse laborers who tirelessly work even during weekends and holidays to ensure prompt withdrawal of rice stocks.
