47K homes in Boheco 2 service are remain without power

Reports revealed that Bohol Electric Cooperative II (BOHECO II) has partially restored power in eight of its 21-town service area, but some 47,478 households still remain without electricity, according to a report of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

In its power restoration report issued Jan. 17, 2022, it was bared that typhoon Odette totally damaged nearly 50,000 households in BOHECO II’s service areas.

In Ubay alone, Bohol’s biggest town, about 11,242 households will not be reenergized until the houses are repaired or restored.

In Talibon, the typhoon’s devastation caused damage to 9,562 houses.

Another 5,763 houses were totally damaged in Trinidad, 3,763 in San Miguel, 3,297 in Getafe, 2,827 in Buenavista, and 2,418 in Danao, the PIA said.

Over a thousand houses each were also unfit to be re-energized in Candijay, Mabini, and Alicia.
In Guindulman, there are 866 houses destroyed and Dagohoy had 828 houses which can not be re-energized unless restored and made habitable again.

A month after the storm, BOHECO II has restored its backbone lines that brought power from the Power Barge 104, the temporary source of power in Bohol, to 8,435 households near substations.

Houses along the Ubay-Garcia Hernandez Substation are already energized.

This line passed from Ubay to Alicia, Candijay, Guindulman, Duero, Jagna, Garcia Hernandez and even stretching to Valencia.

Another line branched out from Alicia to Pilar, Sierra Bullones andthen to Pilar, however, only few households have been reenergized.

As of the last report, BOHECO II is still set to get 136,674 households readied as soon as a reliable power source, like the one from Leyte, can be tapped.

Of the distribution utility’s catchment service areas covering 476 barangays, power is restored in only 64 barangays or 19.75%.

As of Jan. 17, 2022, there was still no power in Mabini, Sierra Bullones, Carlos P Garcia, Trinidad, Bien Unido, Dan Miguel, Dagohoy Danao, Talibon, Getafe, and Buenavista.
