All That You Need to Know About Dental Veneers (Part 1)
This week, allow me to start this column with a discussion of another topic, this time focusing on dental veneers. So we will now be discussing dental veneers, what these are all about and all other information about these.
A dental veneer is a type of dental prosthetic and cosmetic repair procedure. It is similar to crowns and fillings. Unlike the crowns and fillings, a dental veneer involves the use of thin porcelain shells or composite resin material that are tailor-fitted and placed over the teeth. The front teeth are the ones that usually get the veneers.
Molars often get crowns because of their role in the mouth.
A veneer aims to improve front teeth quality.
There are two types of veneers: composite or ceramic and porcelain.
Porcelain veneer uses a smooth material with the goal of making it appear as natural as possible. It requires a lot of milling in order to let it come out as natural as possible. On the other hand, a ceramic veneers is easier to make and is less
expensive, but its surface gets more easily stained compared to porcelain.
In our next issue we will be discussing the top reasons for a person to get veneers for his/her teeth.
