VG Rene’s “Passport on Wheels” request gets DFA approval

Vice Gov. Rene L. Relampagos

A Passport on Wheels program is scheduled to be held here in the New Provincial Capitol Building’s Ceremonial Hall on March 14-18, 2022, as the request made by Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos and the members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) was approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA recently, thru an email sent last Jan. 27, 2022, informed the vice governor that it approved the request for the staging of Passport on Wheels here.
Relampagos was the one who initiated the request to the DFA.

He was elated upon knowing that the said request was favorably considered by the DFA.

Relampagos said a lot of Boholanos and overseas Filipino workers (OFW) need the Passport on Wheels because going to other places to process their passport applications can be a huge hassle because of the distance and the  restrictions brought about by the pandemic and the typhoon.
“Boholanos have long been clamoring for DFA’s Passport on Wheels Program in the province in order for them to process their passport applications and renewals without the unnecessary exposure to health risks, the difficulty of travel, and additional expenses,” Relampagos said.
According to Vice Gov. Relampagos, the last time the DFA did a Passport on Wheels program here in the province of Bohol was sometime in October 2019 which is more than 2 years ago.
Meanwhile, in view of the new normal setting, the Passport on Wheels Program’s registration is done online to ensure the safety of all applicants.
Furthermore, considering that most of the areas of Bohol are still without power, the Provincial Government has provided help desks inside the New Capitol building where applicants can process their online applications with DFA.
As required by the DFA, all applicants must have an active e-mail address and are expected to present the required documents from February 7 to 18, 2022 for the registration and pay the fee through accredited Bayad Centers (7-Eleven, Bayad Center, Robinsons).
Applications with incomplete and inconsistent documentary requirements during the actual mobile passport service schedule will be rejected and the processing fee will be forfeited.
Those applicants with lost or mutilated passports will not be accommodated. Likewise, no walk-in applicants will be entertained on March 14 to 18, 2022.
