All That You Need to Know About Dental Veneers (Part 3)

Allow me to discuss this week, the realities and expectations of using veneers.

The use of veneers feature the following realities and expectations.

Let’s touch the very reason you’re getting or looking at the possibility of getting veneers.

A person getting veneers would  easily get his/her teeth whiter. We have to admit that years of eating certain foods cause stains on the teeth. The stains make the teeth look less whiter and lessattractive. People who smoke or drink coffee often have less white teeth, which appear less attractive.

The food you eat will take their toll on the color of the teeth. The teeth might have an unattractive shade of yellow or brown. The teeth can be bleached with the help of a dentist but eating certain foods, smoking and drinking coffee will discolor the teeth again.  Veneers provide an easy way to make the teeth whiter and the effect would be permanent.
Porcelain veneers are resistant to stains but composite veneers are not stain resistant. Composite veneers are cheaper compared to porcelain veneers.

Porcelain shells are attached over the patient’s natural teeth, and this way the teeth can get whiter.

Veneers are able to fix minor cosmetic dental problems like gap tooth or crooked teeth.  Veneers might not be enough to fix
an overbite where a dental brace would be a better solution.

It would be best to resort to orthodontics when trying to solve major problems on the teeth. The veneers allow people to hide the dental problems as long as they are minor.

Veneers are designed to hide any tooth imperfections. One can save the tooth by giving it a better front-facing veneer or prosthetic enamel.

The teeth will still be crooked or gapped after applying the veneer, but no one will notice except you and the dentist who applied the veneer. It’s better than a jacket because each veneer shell protects and improves each individual tooth.

Let it be known that the veneers are no replacement for braces.

Next week we will continue our discussion of the advantages and cost of having veneers.
