The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is set to get a P100 million financial assistance from President Rodrigo Duterte, according to reports.
This comes following the approval by Vice Gov. Rene Lopez Relampagos and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) of a resolution authorizing Gov. Arthur C. Yap to enter into and sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Office of the President, which is a prelude for the downloading of the funds.
The financial cash assistance from the President shall be used for the needs of those affected by typhoon Odette in the province.
According to Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Fe Pioquinto, the assistance is actually pursuant to the request of Yap to the President for more funds to be used for the typhoon victims.
According to the agreement, the Office of the President shall release to the PGBh the amount of P 100 million.
The financial grant shall be utilized to provide the immediate needs and concerns of those affected by the typhoon particularly food, medicines, and other medical supplies.
It will also be utilized for the procurement of real properties for the establishment of resettlement/relocation sites/areas, and construction of permanent evacuation centers for those who are staying in disaster-prone areas.
Pioquinto added that the P100 million budget will be sourced from the funds of the Office of the President under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF).
Reports say that the Office of the President requires MOA prior to the download of the P 100 million fund to the PGBh’s coffers.
Relampagos is thankful to the Office of the President for the financial assistance granted to Bohol.
He added that the amount is very much needed by the Boholanos especially those living in the hardest hit areas in the province.
Meanwhile, Yap and Relampagos have been exerting efforts, not just to immediately respond to the needs of the Boholanos but also in rebuilding the damaged homes due to the typhoon.
