Another road concreting project in San Jose Street nears completion as the City Engineering Office (CEO) is fulfilling its mandated tasks.

City Engineer Teodoro Estoque said this 2022, major ticket projects are also lined up for completion, including the Proposed Tenement Housing in Brgy. Dampas.

In fact, City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II convened the officers and members of the City Housing Board to finalize the plans for the socialized housing.

Representatives from the National Housing Authority (NHA), Social Housing Corporation Inc. (SHFCI), Urban Poor organizations, and City Government department heads discussed the details of the project.

A resolution was passed allowing the use of the Socialized Housing Fund for the initiative.

The CEO is the main lead for the project, mainly responsible in the design and site development plans.

In 2021, the CEO also delivered major infrastructure projects such as the following: the storm drainage along Ligason Street, road concreting completion at the Dagohoy Circumferential Road, Espuelas Street, Isabo Street, G. Visarra Street, and Upper Salazar Street.

The CEO also completed the repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance of asphalt roads, gravel roads, drainage, and vegetation control in the city. The street lights and artesian wells were also taken charge of the unit.

Other CEO projects include: the completion of the rehabilitation of the Cogon Public Market, the construction of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department Command Center and the completion of the landscaping of Tagbilaran City Hall, including the colorful water fountain and green park.

Fifteen out-of-school youths (OSYs) were chosen to be trained in the souvenir items manufacturing business under the Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Community Development Unit (TCLCDU).

The TCLCDU provided social preparatory trainings for the out-of-school youth. The topics of the said training are gender sensitivity, values formation, financial literacy, reproductive health and responsible parenting, which started on Feb. 28, 2022.

Trainers from the University of Bohol (UB) composed of Dr. Leah Pilongo, Dr. Buenaventurada Libot, Dr. Ammon Tirol, Karen Labor, and Dr. Rica Trabajo shared their expertise with the participants. The skills training on vector data, laser-cutting, 3D making and printing, and t-shirt printing will immediately follow.

According to TCLCDU Head Adelfa Salutan, the graduates of this business course can immediately engage in business as 20 heat and cool pressing machines are already available in the City Government.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) turned over these fabricated machines to be used solely in providing livelihood to the Tagbilaranons.

On March 4, 2022 JICA’s Richoko Hobayashi visited the participants and gave an overview about up cycling. Hobayashi encouraged the youths to be attentive to the seminar-workshops to be able to apply these efficiently.

The TCLCDU recently completed the training of the 2nd batch of beneficiaries in dressmaking and tailoring under the Bangon og Abante sa Bag-ong Asenso (BABA) Livelihood Project. Salutan said that the 1st batch are already set to operate the manufacturing hub that will manufacture garments.
