First District Congressman Edgar Chatto called on various sectors to unite towards recovery and progress of Bohol, especially in the delivery of primary health care to Boholanos.
“We must work together with the Provincial Government [of Bohol] led by Gov. Art Yap and Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos as well as the LGUs [local government units] as we advance health care delivery in the province,” Chatto urged barangay health workers (BHW) of the first district at the Bohol Wisdom School Gymnasium on Mar. 2, 2022.
He commended BHW) in their efforts, which are invaluable in containing the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.
Chatto also reported important developments in the area of health care such as the ongoing construction of Phase 1 and 2 of the Cortes Campus of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), which has a budget of P3 billion.
Moreover, he explained that even with the expansion of the GCGMH, which is the apex referral hospital in the province, the role of BHW remains vital, especially in health care service delivery through the purok system.
The GCGMH expansion also complements the thrusts in health of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), which includes the modernization of Bohol’s district hospitals, he said.
Chatto was among the speakers at the provincial assembly of BHW organized by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) led by Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez.
The forum for BHW, with the theme: “Panaghiusa ug Pagtinabangay alang sa Himsog nga Pamilyang Bol-anon”, provided updates on the health care system here and emphasized the importance of wellness among health care providers. The updates were provided by Dr. Emerson Mateo.
On the other hand, Leonides Saniel of the PHO disscussed with the BHWs updates on the dengue fever situation in the province.
In a related development, the BHWs warmly received Sen. Risa Hontiveros who visited Bohol on the same day.
