SP approves Mitsubishi’s cash donation

More aids and assistance for Typhoon Odette victims in the province are pouring in as Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos led the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of (SP) Bohol in approving on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the resolution that authorizes Gov. Arthur Yap to sign the Deed of Donation with Mitsubishi Corporation for the rehabilitation and recovery efforts for the Province of Bohol.

The head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Dr. Anthony Damalerio explained that the Mitsubishi Corporation intends to donate the amount of ¥ 5 million, which will be used in providing relief goods typhoon victims.

According to Damalerio, the donation was an offshoot of the request of Gov. Arthur Yap for assistance after typhoon Odette hit Bohol last December 2021.

In a letter dated January 3, 2022, addressed to the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, Gov. Yap requested for assistance in providing vital emergency relief goods to the province and its residents.

In response to this request or assistance, Mitsubishi Corporation expressed its intention to give financial aid with terms conditions.

Pursuant to the terms of the donation, the amount donated shall be transferred directly to the Province of Bohol’s Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery Program – Trust Fund.

The said donation shall exclusively be used for public use in the rehabilitation and recovery of the Province of Bohol and its residents from the devastating effects of typhoon Odette.

Relampagos expressed his profound gratitude to the Mitsubishi Corporation for the generosity of the latter.
