Bohol gets new RPC

Bohol is getting a new Rice Processing Center (PRC) – thanks to the effort of Vice Gov. Rene Lopez Relampagos and the entire Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) after they approved a resolution during the last regular session on Mar. 8, 2022, reports say.

During the regular session, the SP, presided over by Relampagos, approved a resolution granting authority to Gov. Arthur Yap to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development Mechanization (PHilMech) to develop a new RPC in the province.

The said RPC is the result of an earlier resolution passed by the SP on Sept. 28, 2022, expressing the province’s intent to apply for postharvest facilities under the Rice Mechanization Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Mechanization Component.

With help from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the provincial government complied with PHilMech’s requirements in order to obtain the said projects.

As such, PhilMech will provide one unit of Multi-Stage Rice Mill and two units of Recirculating Dryer.

Present at the pre-session meeting was Dr. Larry Pamugas who said the project is “a grace from the Almighty”.

He also explained that one of the main responsibilities of the province is to provide the lot and the building that will house the machineries.

Meanwhile, Relampagos expressed his gratitude that PHilMech selected Bohol as the recipient of the project.

The new RPC will be established at The Bohol Organic Technology (BOATECH) Center, which is a property of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) in barangay Gabi, Ubay.
