Bohol has banned the entry of domestic and captured wild birds, live poultry, poultry products and by-products to Bohol from mainland Luzon for 30 days, according to a report by the Philippine Information Agency.
This comes as Gov. Arthur Yap issued Executive Order No. 12, series of 2022, which also bans the entry of ducks, quails, native chickens and balut.
Furthermore, banned from entering Bohol are poultry semen, chicken eggs, quail eggs and manure.
The EO is effective from March 9, 2022 until April 8, 2022.
The temporary ban for the entry of birds, poultry and poultry products came after the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Animal Industry-Animal Disease Diagnostics and Reference Laboratory (ADDRL) found samples from Bulacan and Pampanga having the highly pathogenic Avian Influenza or bird flu virus, according to the PIA.
Moreover, bird flu is a highly contagious viral disease affecting birds and poultry, the PIA report adds.
As authorities confirmed positive cases of bird flu in Bulacan and Pampanga, they have also found strains of the said virus in samples from the provinces of Laguna and Camarines Sur, the PIA concludes.
