Chatto pays tribute to the late Gov. David Tirol

Cong. Edgar M. Chatto

Cong. Edgar Chatto paid tribute to former Gov. David Tirol who passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Chatto said he had the privilege of working with Gov. Tirol in different capacities over the course of the former’s public service life.

Chatto began his career in public service as Board Member representing the Kabataang Barangay (now Sangguniang Kabataan). This was in 1980 and Tirol was then Vice Governor of Bohol.

“I was actively involved in the 1984 campaign for assemblyman of Nong David with Ramon Lapez and my father, the late Eladio Chatto. They were called the Tender Loving Care Team, a mnemonic for Tirol, Lapez, Chatto then. They won in that provincewide election,” Chatto shared.

Gov. Tirol was elected governor of Bohol when Chatto was mayor of Balilihan also serving as president of the Bohol Mayor’s League in 1992.

Chatto cited as noteworthy Gov. Tirol’s presence in many of special events at the Capitol during the former’s stint as governor of Bohol especially in the annual State of the Province Address (SOPA).

The solon shared the information about the last time he met Gov. Tirol was during the groundbreaking of Phase 2 of the Gallares Hospital Cortes Campus Project in February 2022. In that meeting the two former governors of Bohol exchanged pleasantries.

Chatto expressed sadness over Gov. Tirol’s passing, as he recalled fond memories they shared throughout their public service life.

In the post, Chatto also offered prayers for Gov. Tirol’s eternal repose and expressed condolences to his bereaved family, wife Amalia Tirol and children.

On Wednesday night, Leah Tirol, the late former governor’s daughter, informed the public about the passing of her father via a Facebook post.
