58 Tagbilaran women receive livelihood aid

About 58 Tagbilaran women received livelihood assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) on March 14, 2022, according to a report of the City Media Bureau released on March 17, 2022.
These women were trained by the City Social Welfare and Development’s (CSWD) training and education arm on food processing led by Anelsa Sumalinog.
The Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) aims to help women who were affected by the impact caused by the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and typhoon Odette.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II in his message stressed the importance of having a stable source of income.
“Aside from nurturing their families, women help men to provide food on the table. This livelihood assistance is relevant in difficult times, specifically now that we have had the Covid-19 pandemic and typhoon Odette. It will provide the needed push to our women to go on despite challenges,” Mayor Yap said.
Social Worker Desiree Faith Lingo in an interview said that the grant was divided into two categories, one was intended for those women who already have an existing enterprise and the second category include those with plans to start a new business.
Around 37 recipients are existing small business owners and Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries. They were given P15,000 each to help infuse capital to their existing enterprises.
Moreover, the remaining 21 beneficiaries received the Tocino and Longganisa Livelihood Starter Package which included 15 kilos of meat, cooler, and food processing ingredients to be used to start a new business.

Dr. Chona Fullido of the Bohol Island State University (BISU) led the training on pan-fried bun making during the Women’s Month Celebration sponsored by the City Government on March 8, 2022, at the Panda Tea Suites, according to the City Media Bureau.
Other break-out sessions on the production of tocino, shakoy, and doughnut were also conducted during the said activity.
The finished products of the participants during the hands-on training were showcased in a food product display.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II spearheads this year’s celebration by helping women develop their entrepreneurial skills.
“We know and value a woman’s strength. In fact, this year’s celebration leveraged on that core, we provided relevant trainings to enhance the enterprising abilities of the women. All of us have been a silent witness to the resilience of our women in managing the household, nurturing their children, and loving their husbands. Thus, this special day, we celebrate with women all around the world,” Mayor Yap said.
