Comelec reminds bets to comply with campaign rules

Atty. Edwin Palgan

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has reminded the candidates in this coming May polls to adhere to the Comelec campaign rules.

This was the message to the candidates imparted by acting Tagbilaran Comelec election officer Edwin Palgan during a radio interview over Open Forum on March 24, 2022 hosted by Dave Albarado.

Palgan said that the Comelec will remove any campaign materials placed outside the common poster areas.

At least one common poster area will be designated per barangay, he added.

He also said that candidates must comply with the prescribed dimensions for posters in order to comply with regulations. The maximum poster size is two feet by three feet and the pamphlet’s dimension should not be larger than the size of a long bond paper.

Palgan said the Comelec allows the placement of campaign materials on private vehicles and private property as long as they are compliant with the rules regarding the sizes.

The acting election officer of Tagbilaran aired these reminders as the campaign period for local candidates start on March 25, 2022.
